The Queensberry Monument, Dumfries, Scotland

The Queensberry Monument was erected in 1780, and moved for a while to a site in front of what are at present the Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council Offices. It was moved back to Queensberry Square in 1990, with the pedestrianisation of the Town Centre. Designed by Robert Adam, the monument demonstrates the esteem in which Charles, Third Duke of Queensberry, was held by Dumfries people.
